How NaviBox Works

NaviBox helps reduce intersection accidents by identifying high-risk movement patterns seconds before a potential collision.

By monitoring crosswalks and intersections in real time, NaviBox provides early warnings to both pedestrians and drivers when a dangerous situation is likely to occur.

NaviBox detects pedestrians, vehicles, motorcycles, scooters, electric wheelchairs, bicycles, and other road users at intersections, then estimates movement intent through AI-based pose and trajectory analysis.

The system analyzes movement direction, likely destination, and human posture to identify potential collision points and issue warnings before risk escalates.

Privacy Protection Measures

This demonstration project is operated in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act. Video footage that is not required for research and development is deleted promptly after the retention period defined in the video-device operation and management policy expires.

Footage used for research and development is permanently deleted within 30 days. If footage contains identifiable information, such as faces or vehicle license plates, the information is de-identified before use.

On-site notices are installed so that visitors and road users can clearly recognize that filming is taking place. The notices also state that recorded footage may be used for research and development after de-identification.

NaviBox is designed as a fixed device and cannot be arbitrarily controlled or redirected for purposes unrelated to its installation. Audio recording is not used.

BlueSignal discloses its video-device operation and management policy and maintains an internal management plan, a designated privacy manager, and a supervision process to prevent privacy infringement.

Chapter 1. General Provisions

Article 1. Purpose

This policy defines the procedures required to protect personal information and operate video-information processing devices transparently.

Article 2. Definitions

“Video information processing device” refers to a camera installed at a specific location and the related communication equipment used to receive image information through closed wired or wireless channels.

“Image information” means information that can identify a person through images captured by a video information processing device.

“Data subject” means a natural person or vehicle identified by the image information.

“Information processing” means entering, storing, editing, deleting, or playing back image information collected by CCTV.

Article 3. Scope

Unless otherwise specified by applicable laws, the protection of collected and processed image information follows this policy.

Chapter 2. Operation and Management

Article 4. Responsible Manager

The operation manager oversees video information processing devices and handles CCTV-related inquiries and complaints.

Article 5. Device Performance and Recording Period

Devices support HD-grade image quality or higher. Filming for AI learning is conducted only when necessary and for a defined period. The retention period is 30 days.

Chapter 3. Handling and Protection of Image Information

Article 6. De-identification

When collected footage contains information that may identify a specific person, such as a face or vehicle license plate, the information is de-identified before use.

Article 7. Restrictions on Device Use

Operators must not arbitrarily control cameras, redirect cameras to unrelated locations, zoom in for purposes unrelated to installation, or record audio.

Article 8. Restrictions on Image Information Processing

Image information must not be used for purposes other than the original installation purpose or provided to unauthorized parties, except where required by law, consent, urgent protection of rights and interests, criminal investigation, prosecution, or court proceedings.

Article 9. Use and Provision Records

Requests to use or receive image information must specify the purpose and scope in writing. The responsible manager reviews requests and keeps records of approved use or provision.

Article 10. Correction and Deletion

Data subjects who review their image information may request correction or deletion. Requests may be limited when required for criminal investigation, when technically difficult, when third-party privacy may be infringed, or when other legitimate public-interest reasons exist.

Article 11. Protection Measures

Access to equipment installation areas and image information is restricted to authorized operating personnel only.

Article 12. Retention and Deletion

Image information collected by CCTV is retained for up to 30 days and permanently deleted after the retention period expires.

Chapter 4. Supplementary Provisions

Article 13. Outsourcing

When operation or management tasks are outsourced, necessary safeguards are applied and the contractor is supervised to prevent misuse or abuse of image information.

Article 14. Confidentiality

Anyone who processes or has processed image information must not disclose, process without authority, or use such information for improper purposes.

School Zone and Crosswalk Pedestrian Warning System Demonstration Project

1. Overview of the Smart Demonstration Project
Demonstration Area

Naseong-dong and Sodam-dong, Sejong City: two locations near LG Best Shop Sejong Government Complex branch and one location near Sejong Sodam Daycare Center.

Project Period

12 months from the project start date (July 14, 2021 – July 13, 2022). Demonstration period: July 14, 2021 – May 12, 2022.

Demonstration Details

NaviBox analyzes vehicle and pedestrian movement at intersections and school zones. When a potential collision is predicted, it provides road-surface alerts for pedestrians and warning messages for vehicles to help prevent accidents.

2. Safety-Related Measures
The project includes safety coverage through commercial general liability insurance for installation and facility-maintenance risks, as well as privacy liability insurance.
Safety-related matters are coordinated in advance with relevant organizations, including Sejong City, Sejong Police Station, and nearby schools.
The project is supported by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and KAIA. Damage to the facilities may be subject to penalties under relevant laws.
3. Liability Insurance and Damage Compensation

4. Other Required Conditions
The project complies with required conditions, including the installation of clear filming notices and disclosure that footage may be used for research and development after de-identification.
